Cats, Cats, Cats - pics, advice, etc

Even though he is only just over 19 weeks old, the little monster adores eating fingers, hands, toes and anything covered in human flesh that he can get his very sharp teeth, and very, very sharp claws into (no ladies - NOT that!). I have the scratches to prove my theory!

Alfie came from the same breeder as Benny, and I can say that they are both such wonderful cats. I hope that the breeder will allow me to include a link to her website which will appear on the Links page in due course.

I first saw Alfie (and fell in love) when he was 4 weeks old and I waited a staggeringly slow 9 weeks to bring him home, but as I live fairly close to his breeder, I got to see Alfie, his Mum and brothers & sisiters roughly once per week. I'm sure that helped him create a special bond with me as he is definately a Mummy's boy. For the first ten days he was with us, whenever he went to sleep, it had to be on me and he would not get off.

A bit difficult when you are trying to cook, read or do anything. But now he is a lot better and has his own little bed on top of the Sky box where he sleeps and dreams in the times when he is not causing havoc, jumping on the other 3, eating or just generally racing around at 150mph

Our lovely Milly keeps bringing him in presents (3 mice & one bird in last 3 weeks), none of which have been in any state for us to save. The little 4-legged blighters (all 4) then terrorise this poor creature (if not already dead) and in the end, Alfie will eat it - WHOLE - in about 3-4 mouthfuls! He is the only kitten or cat I have had wher the whole thing is eaten with nothing left. His belly then looks really fat for a while until he digests his "meal", but he does waddle around the home with a big fat belly which is terribly funny. Strangely, Dusty bought in a nearly dead ducking a few weeks ago, although the poor thing was too close to death to save. And of course, Alfie got hold of it and started crunching (yukkkkk).

Like many Bengal's, I think his Mummy never told him not to talk with his mouthful as he does this a lot - usually it's a "this is really,. really yummy - any more" in a cat/kitten chirrupping/mini meow special kind of voice. Benny also does this sometimes - when it's a really special thing for him.

Unfortunately, like all kittens, Alfie thinks with his belly. Anything he considers food (whether supposedly for cats or humans) being brought to the table is met with frantic squeaking and chattering from Alfie telling us that he is starving (not having eaten for at least 2 minutes) and we need to give him whatever we've got NOW or he'll fade away! Unsuprisingly this doesn't work and what he usually gets is either gently lifted off the table onto the floor. If he repeats the trying to grab whatever we have, then it's the water spray!!! He is getting a little better than this, but anything we are eating is fair game and of course, being a loving family member, we must share it with him.

We recently found the (delights) of raw food for the cats - Alfie loves it. Liver & steak mince so far, with some turkey breast to follow. I know that some Bengal owners buy frozen chicks, which are defrosted & then given to the cat. I'm not sure I could do that, but I may get the husband to feed the chicks to Alfie. The cats adore this sort of thing, as cats are all "obligate carnivores" which means that they must eat meat as it is needed as part of their digestive requirements.

And on the subject of water, Alfie considers the large plastic water bowls around the home to be his own personal paddling pools! When he was even tinier a few weeks ago, he could sit in a bowl, but he's slightly bigger he has to make do with standing in them! Crazy kitty. He is getting a little too big for this now, but he will still try if he can.
